The Woman Behind Hidden Shire
Hi, I’m Eva “Dee” Goss. I suppose you clicked on this page to learn a bit about who is behind Hidden Shire® and all the things it represents.
The short answer is that I’ve never been very good at fitting into just one box. I’m an author, creator, photographer, researcher, business owner, and someone who is always looking for ways to make the world a little kinder, a little prettier, and a little easier to navigate.
That desire is really what connects everything I do.
Fairy Goodnight was created to help children build self-awareness, cooperation, confidence, and more meaningful conversations. Fairy Valor Bell helps children find courage and comfort through a parent’s military deployment.
Wild Wisdom of Missouri grew from a desire to share useful knowledge about the natural world around us. Dark Paw wanders the streets of Fulton after dark, offering gentle life lessons about courage, kindness, perspective, and the things people of all ages sometimes need to hear. And The Side-Eyed Sage is my slightly more sarcastic corner of the world—where I offer perspective on relationships, interactions, and everyday life with humor, compassion, and probably some questionable advice along the way.

Hidden Shire is where all of those pieces finally came together. It’s a place for handcrafted goods, books, photography, local history, unusual finds, events, experiences, storytelling, and a little room for imagination. More than anything, I want the things I create to offer something useful without feeling preachy—a thought that helps, a story that shifts perspective, a beautiful thing that makes someone smile, or simply a reminder that we can be a little kinder to one another.
I’ve learned that some of the most meaningful things in life are often small ones. Hidden Shire is my way of putting more of those small things into the world.
